Belt of Truth

Ephesians 6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.

God is calling for churches and Christians to get back into His Word. I am currently preaching a sermon series on Sunday mornings on the armor of God. The first piece of armor mentioned is the “Belt of Truth. What is the belt of truth it is the “Written Word of God.”

The belt of truth is the most essential piece of armor we have been given….why? Without the Word we wouldn’t know the way to salvation, we wouldn’t know of God’s healing power, we wouldn’t know about the peace of God.

If you don’t have the Word first and foremost in your life, you will fall apart. When you ignore the Word of God and fail to apply it to your life, obey it, live by it on a daily basis, your entire spiritual life comes apart at the seams! You will not walk in power, faith or confidence. If you do not read your Bible faithfully you will have no sense of righteousness, and you will slowly begin to lose your sense of peace. If the Bible is not a regular part of your life you will begin to lose your ability to believe and walk in faith. You absolutely Can not Function as a believer without the Word of God having an active and central role in your life.

But reading the Bible itself isn’t enough….you must obey what it says.

1 Kings 2:3 and observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.

When we read and obey His Word, we will be prosperous and successful, and we can walk in faith and confidence.

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Notice again the one that reads the Word and obeys is strong and successful in all they do. Are you reading his Word, studying it and obeying? If not, start today.
