Impossible Situations

The Impossible

God is putting Christians and churches in situations only He can handle. Why? Because He wants us to depend on Him to take care of the problem. He wants to show His power and glory, so He can be glorified. He is saying “let Me see how much faith you really have, let me see how much you trust me?”

In 2 Chronicles 20 we find the story of Jehoshaphat and Judah and an impossible situation they were in. Three nations with armies that outnumbered Judah came to attack and destroy them. This caused Jehoshaphat to be afraid.

What did he do?

2 Chronicles 20:3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

What action did he take? He called a prayer meeting, He called for a nationwide fast and he put it into the hands of God.

2 Chronicles 20:10-12 "But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them. See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance. O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you."

God’s response to Jehoshaphat’s was this:

2 Chronicles 20:15 He said: "Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: 'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's.

If you know the rest of the story, God defeats their enemies and all Judah had to do was praise God.

The same God that fought for Jehoshaphat “fights” for you. What impossible situation are you facing? Bankruptcy, a report from the doctor that wasn’t favorable, attacks continually on your mind, maybe your spouse is divorcing you. When situations like this come your way, it is important to put it into the hands of God. But, know this, immediately the devil will come to you and say, “so you believe in Jesus, is your God big enough to deliver you from this?” You must immediately respond to the devil and say, “Yes my God is big enough.” Then quote a scripture something like this: Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?

Once you take it to God in prayer and you place it in His hands, step back and “watch and see what God will do.”
