Crazy Faith
What kind of faith does God want us to have? A faith that the world would call crazy. A faith that seems outlandish, weird, bizarre to the world. Noah was one that had a crazy kind of faith. In Noah’s time, the world had become a wicked place and God decided to destroy the whole earth with a flood. The scriptures say Noah found favor with the Lord and He tells Noah that he and his family would be spared. To spare Noah and his family, they were told they would have to build a huge boat. This boat was to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. A boat big enough to house 2 of every kind of breathing animals, male and female, on earth. He would have no power tools to help build this boat; it was all done by hand. He also had to gather up a year’s worth of food for himself and his family and all the animals. I don’t know about you, but it would take a lot of faith to do this--“a crazy kind of faith.”
Can you imagine the ridicule Noah experienced? One of Noah’s neighbors walks by and says, what are you building? Noah: A big boat. Neighbor: How big of a boat are you building? Noah: 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. Neighbor: Why? Noah: God is going to send a flood that is going to destroy the whole earth. Neighbor: Why is He going to destroy the earth? Noah: Because it is full of wickedness! Then the laughter begins, and no doubt Noah was ridiculed and made fun off. But, what did Noah do in spite of the ridicule?
Genesis 6:22 Noah did everything just as God commanded him.
Why did Noah build the ark….to spare the human race….the animals….the birds and all breathing things from annihilation?
We must take a risk, and when you take a risk and step out in faith, many times you will stand alone. You will be made fun of and sadly to say, discouraged many times by other Christians.

“Faith is the willingness to look foolish. Noah looked foolish building a boat in the middle of a desert. The Israelite army looked foolish marching around Jericho blowing trumpets. A shepherd boy named David looked foolish charging a giant with a slingshot and five stones. The Magi looked foolish tracking a star to Timbuktu. Peter looked foolish getting out of a boat in the middle of the Sea of Galilee. And Jesus looked foolish wearing a crown of thorns. But the results speak for themselves.
Noah was saved from the flood; the walls came tumbling down; David defeated Goliath; the Magi discovered the Messiah; Peter walked on water, and Jesus was crowned King of kings.”
God has great and mighty things for us to do for Him, so His kingdom can move forward, and He will be asking His people to step out and do crazy things. The question is: when He speaks to you to step out in faith, will you say yes, no matter how crazy it is?
