Jesus is Amazing!

This week and next weeks blog will be in two parts. We will talk about Isaiah 9:6. This scripture says, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

#1 Wonderful! The word wonderful comes from the Hebrew word “pele” meaning to perform wonderful wondrous things or works. The most wonderful thing He brought us was salvation. He cared for us so much that He left His domain and heaven and became like us and died upon the cross for our sins.

#2 Counselor! The word counselor comes from the Hebrew word "yaats" meaning to advise, to give counsel, guidance, and purpose. We need a counselor to guide us. We seek advice from many different people, doctors, psychologists, school counselors, psychics (Lord help us). In all that we do, however, we should ask God for his help first. Why? He will never lead us wrong!

#3 Mighty God! The word mighty comes from the Hebrew word "gibbowr" meaning powerful, champion, chief. He is the Word who was with God in the beginning. He is God who holds the whole world in his hand. He is the God who divided the waters of the Red Sea. Jesus is the Mighty God who created all things. He speaks to the elements of this earth and they must obey. Nothing is impossible for the Mighty God. There is nothing too big that our Jesus cannot handle.
