Overcoming Discouragement

It is easy to get discouraged. Discouragement is something we all will face ... so what do we do when we are discouraged? Look what Romans 12:12 says: “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." 1. Seek God! Understand you will have things that come your way that will discourage you but when this happens, reach out to God immediately. Be faithful to pray, spending time with Him, calling out to Him when the battle is fiercest. 2. Be patient or persevere during that trying time. Simply don't give up. 3. Approach Him with a right spirit. Look at Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” We are told here to approach Him with thanksgiving. then we are to present our needs to Him and when we do this, look what verse 7 says: “the peace of God will come and guard your heart." This means His peace gives us encouragement which is the opposite of discouragement.
